Enable ESU updates

A quick, secure way to extend the protection of your Windows 10 after official support ends (14 October 2025).

What is the ESU programme?

Since 14 October 2025, Microsoft has stopped providing free updates for Windows 10. The ESU (Extended Security Updates) programme allows businesses to keep receiving critical security patches for a further 3 years — for a fee.

Strict eligibility conditions
Only the following editions are eligible: You must also hold a valid ESU licence (via CSP, VLSC or a Microsoft partner).

Does this apply to you?

Check your Windows edition:

  1. Press Win + R, type winver, then press Enter.
  2. Look at the edition shown in the window.
If you use Windows 10 Home:
You cannot subscribe to ESU. Microsoft recommends that you:
  • ✅ Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro (with a licence key), then subscribe to ESU, or
  • ✅ Migrate to Windows 11 (if your hardware is compatible).
If you have Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise/Education:
This script can help you bring up the enrolment option — provided you have an ESU licence.

How do you get an ESU licence?

The ESU programme is reserved for business users and can only be obtained through:

⚠️ Warning:
  • There is no free ESU licence.
  • Keys sold on Amazon, eBay and similar sites are invalid or fraudulent.
  • A personal Microsoft account is not enough.
