Website Display Problems in Social Media Apps: Causes and Solutions

When you browse your favourite social media and click on a link to a website, the page sometimes does not display properly. This frustrating problem can be caused by various factors linked to the way social media apps handle external links. In this article, we look at the reasons for these display problems and provide solutions for the most popular social networks.
Facebook:
The Facebook app is designed to optimise the user experience by embedding web links without leaving the app. However, this can sometimes cause display problems, such as distorted layouts or missing images.
Solution: If you run into display problems on Facebook, try copying the link and pasting it directly into the browser of your choice. This ensures that the web page displays correctly, without the constraints imposed by the app.
You can also go to the Facebook settings, open media content and tick "Links open externally".
Twitter:
Twitter often limits the length of messages and may truncate links to save space. Shortened links can redirect to sites without making it clear what to expect.
Solution: If the link looks truncated or does not display properly on Twitter, copy the link and paste it into an online URL unshortener to get the full link, then open it in your browser.
LinkedIn:
LinkedIn has its own way of handling external links so that they load faster. However, this can sometimes distort the layout of the site you are trying to open.
Solution: If your site's link does not open properly in the browser from LinkedIn, copy the link, manually open your Chrome browser (or any other browser of your choice), then paste the link for the best display experience.
You can also go to the settings and untick "Display links in the app".
Instagram:
Instagram does not allow clickable links in post captions, restricting links to verified profiles and the "link in bio" section. This can also lead to a limited browsing experience.
Solution: To share a link from Instagram, update the link in your bio or use third-party services to create a link page, which you can then link to from your bio.
TikTok:
TikTok focuses on short videos and, although it allows you to share links in your bio, it does not allow clickable links in video descriptions.
Solution: To make the most of TikTok, update the link in your bio to direct users to your site. You can also add text to your videos to encourage viewers to follow the link in your bio.
Display problems with websites in social media apps can be due to user experience optimisation, space limitations or the technologies these apps use. By using the solutions given for each social network, you can work around these problems and enjoy a seamless web browsing experience. If the problems persist, do not hesitate to contact the relevant app's technical support for help.
